A Day at the Gallery

Post written by Stacy Berndt

I started off today by going to class where we continued working on projects that we had started. After that, I ended up going to a cafe nearby and having lunch there.

I took a small break back at the apartment before visiting an art gallery as a group. The pieces displayed were by Jitka Svobodova. She had many themes explored in her art the themes being; space and connection, the essence of the object, phenomenon and movement, energy and light, and trees.

Even though all of the work that she did was so amazing and incredible to see, I kept being drawn back to the theme of the essence of the object. A lot of the work she made about this theme was of ordinary objects that you would see, touch, and interact with on a day-to-day basis. Seeing these objects removed from the contacts that we usually see them in was really intriguing to me. I sat and sketched some objects I am familiar with in a similar manner.

I ended the day by going to the Shakespeare Bookstore with a couple of friends. I ended up buying a book that had poems about cats. After that, we got some food at the mall food court. It wasn't the best food I had but it was still pretty okay.
