Eva in Tesco

Post written by Eva Hautamaki

Tesco is a British multinational grocery store. You could think of it as a European Walmart. Mostly food, but a little bit of everything else. There is one in the mall about 3 blocks from our apartments in Prague, so it’s where most of us have been doing our grocery shopping.

I'm a big fan of Tesco, Here’s what it’s like:

You walk in and to your right is the produce section. Every kind of fruit and vegetable you could want. And to your left is my favorite section: the bakery! Many, many bins of every kind of baked good and bread you can imagine. Most of my shopping happens in this section.

Next we come to the refrigeration and dairy section. This section is always a little interesting when you can’t read Czech. After that comes the drink section, which is 4 aisles (not even counting the wine and liquor). Every Kind of water, juice, pop, beer, and seltzers, you name it, it’s there.

There’s the rest of the standard packaged foods. Something important to note is that many things come in much smaller quantities. There's also a section for cleaning, kitchen, toys, hair and body products, and clothing.

It may not be as big or exciting as some of our other adventures, but it’s an important part of our everyday life here in prague. All the details are important, and this is one of my favorites.
