A Day in Prague’s Main Square

Post written by Bronwyn Weiker

Today everyone had breakfast at Fred and Ginger, the restaurant at the top of the famous dancing houses of Prague and talked about their immersion experiences. The view from the restaurant was incredible. You could see the river with lots of boats and many of the red roofs of Prague. Afterwards, a few of us went to see the Astronomical clock go off at noon. This was a great experience that hundreds of people gather to see every day. The bells of the church ring as little figures of the apostles, death, and a rooster appear in windows above the clock, some of which are over 350 years old. It was impressive to see how smoothly the clock still worked after so many years, and the colors were still very vibrant. The clock is close to one of the main squares of Prague, so after watching it go off, we explored the area some more.

One of the places that a couple of us had found a couple of days ago was a local brewery/restaurant, which offered great local food. I had a type of gnocchi made with goat cheese and topped with bacon and onion. It was so delicious, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was fantastic. It was definitely a local favorite and I would love to go again. Later, we also found a local café called La Forme Nuselska that served amazing croissants and a great assortment of coffee and homemade lemonades. The atmosphere was very calming and a great respite from the hustle and bustle of the main squares of Prague.
